Framework Laptop 13 Pro (Intel Core Ultra Series 3, 2026)
Announced April 21, 202612, the Framework Laptop 13 Pro is a ground-up redesign of the Framework Laptop 13. It features Intel's Core Ultra Series 3 (Panther Lake) processors on the 18A process node13, a 74 Wh battery, upgradeable LPCAMM2 LPDDR5X memory, a fully CNC-machined 6063 aluminum chassis, a purpose-built 2.8K touchscreen display with variable refresh rate, and a haptic touchpad14. It is Framework's first Ubuntu Certified system15. DIY Edition launched at $1,199 and pre-built configurations at $1,49916; prices were subsequently raised amid an industry-wide LPCAMM2 shortage (see Pricing).
After a delay announced June 10, 2026 (caused by a haptic touchpad PCB grounding bug and a CSOT display firmware initialization bug)78, the first Batch 1 shipments began the week of July 27, 2026 alongside the review embargo lift910.
The 13 Pro is also available with an AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series mainboard option, using the same DDR5-based mainboard as the 2025 Framework Laptop 13111. Because the AMD board uses standard DDR5 SO-DIMM (rather than LPCAMM2), it is unaffected by the LPCAMM2 shortage9.
The new Mainboard and Display Kit are backwards-compatible with all previous Framework Laptop 13 generations112. Older mainboards can be installed into the 13 Pro chassis (requiring a BIOS update for full 74 Wh battery support)12. The new Bottom Cover, Input Cover, and 74 Wh battery are not compatible with the original Laptop 13 chassis due to the redesigned geometry12. The 74 Wh battery, haptic Input Cover, and Bottom Cover must be upgraded together as an interdependent set13.

Pricing
In July 2026, Framework announced that LPCAMM2 supplier costs had more than doubled, far beyond what the company could absorb1617. As a result, 32 GB and 64 GB LPCAMM2 module prices were raised sharply, and some pre-order configurations were downgraded (later 64 GB orders were fulfilled with 32 GB at the original 32 GB price; later 32 GB DIY/mainboard orders received 16 GB at the original 16 GB price)1718. The AMD Ryzen AI 300 configuration, which uses DDR5 SO-DIMM, is unaffected9.

Real-world battery life
Framework's "20+ hours Netflix 4K" claim holds up under ideal test conditions (low brightness, power-saver, video streaming) but real-world mixed workloads at high brightness land in the 10–16 hour range13202122:
- PCWorld (Core Ultra 5 325, 74 Wh): 22 h 8 min — exceeded the claim22
- Ars Technica (X7 358H, 74 Wh): "just a hair over 18 hours" PCMark 10 Modern Office @ 200 nits. Notably, the same Panther Lake board in an old 61 Wh chassis still hit ~15 h 45 m — most of the gain is the chip/LPCAMM2, not the bigger battery13
- Tom's Hardware (X9 388H, 74 Wh): 15 h 55 min web/video/OpenGL @ 150 nits — beat all Windows competitors; only MacBook Pro (18 h 14 m) beat it21

Known Issues
- USB-C charger compatibility bug on Linux — Phoronix found that using a third-party 150 W Anker USB-C charger, the Core Ultra X9 388H SoC power draw was capped at 6 W, drastically reducing performance. Switching to the included Framework charger resolved it. Phoronix had not seen this behaviour on any prior Framework laptop with the same charger25.
- Speakers — Side-firing stereo speakers sound "thin and treble-y with minimal bass"; FxSound (Windows only) helps20.
- Thermals under load — The single-fan cooling solution is the constraint on the X9 388H; Tom's Hardware measured the keyboard at 110 °F (43 °C), trackpad 90 °F (32 °C), and the hottest bottom spot 117 °F (47 °C) under Cinebench stress. Notebookcheck measured CPU 90 °C+ under load versus 74 °C on a Dell XPS 13 with the same X7 chip2124.
Ubuntu Certification
The 13 Pro is Framework's first Ubuntu Certified system, certified by Canonical against Ubuntu 24.04 LTS15. Framework pre-loads Ubuntu 26.04 LTS on Ubuntu pre-builts and officially supports Ubuntu 26.04 LTS and Fedora 44 out of the box. CachyOS, Bazzite, Arch, and NixOS 26.05 are listed as compatible community-supported distributions13. Minimum kernel: 6.19 (Wi-Fi 7 BE211 needs ≥6.9)27. An official Ubuntu 26.04 LTS installation guide is published28. Framework stated Ubuntu pre-builts were outselling Windows configurations at launch29.
