Framework Laptop 12 (13th Gen Intel, 2025)
The Framework Laptop 12 is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop announced at the 2nd Gen event in February 202512. It is positioned as a smaller, lower-cost model compared to the Framework Laptop 13 and 163. It features a 12.2-inch WUXGA touchscreen with tablet mode45, and is compatible with MPP 2.0 and USI 2.0 stylus types4. Fulfillment began in June 2025 with 13th Gen Intel Core processors6.

Known Issues
- Bottom cover cracking — Early production units (manufactured before approximately week 50 of 2025) can develop cracks in the ABS plastic bottom cover around screws and near hinges, sometimes within weeks of normal use. Framework identified the cause as issues with injection molding parameters and the internal geometry of the bottom cover, and implemented a tooling modification along with additional quality checks1213. As of December 2025 (week 50 of 2025 and later), all shipments use the redesigned bottom cover14. Affected owners can contact Framework Support for a replacement bottom cover under warranty12. Identify fixed covers via the serial number (5 digits in, next 2 digits = week of year; week 50 of 2025 or later is fixed) or the molded date stamp (reads 12/2025 or later)14. - Speaker failure when warm — Linked to the bottom-cover cracking issue: chassis flex disturbs the audio board pogo-pins, causing speakers (left first, then both) to fail when the chassis warms during charging. Replacing the bottom cover fully resolves it15.
- Touchscreen stops working after sleep (Linux) — Reported on Fedora 43+, Ubuntu 25.10, and Arch (GNOME 49). Stylus and trackpad still work. Workaround:
sudo modprobe -r hid_multitouch && sudo modprobe hid_multitouch16.
- eDP cable / touchscreen hardware fault — The eDP cable and antenna are routed together around the right hinge and can be disturbed during assembly, causing touch failure. Reseating the eDP cable on the mainboard fixes it17.
- Sleep/wake anomalies — Closing the lid or connecting/disconnecting the charger can wake the laptop from sleep, even with "Power on AC attach" disabled in BIOS1819.
- Stylus lag / broken lines (Windows) — Caused by the third-party "Framework Control" app polling the EC, which conflicts with the ILITEK touch controller. Disabling Framework Control resolves it20.
