DC-ROMA RISC-V Mainboard III

The DC-ROMA RISC-V Mainboard III is the third-generation RISC-V mainboard for the Framework Laptop 13 by DeepComputing12. Powered by the SpacemiT K3 SoC — the world's first RISC-V SoC supporting the RVA23 profile — it features an 8-core CPU up to 2.5 GHz, a 30 TOPS NPU, and up to 60 TOPS of combined general-purpose AI compute1234. It officially launched on May 12, 2026, with pre-orders opening at $69945.

Now Available

The Mainboard III launched on May 12, 2026, with three configurations: Basic ($699+), Standard ($899+), and Pro ($1,499+). The first production batch is expected to ship by the end of June 2026456. It ships with a developer-focused build of Ubuntu Desktop 26.04 that is not production-ready; Ubuntu Pro can be purchased from Canonical for support and security maintenance56.

Performance

The X100 CPU cores achieve approximately 9 SpecINT2006/GHz. While not matching high-end x86 or ARM cores, the third generation brings substantial improvements over the JH7110 (Gen I) and EIC7702X (Gen II), with full RVA23 vector extension support enabling better software compatibility and AI workloads27.

The NPU consists of 8 additional RISC-V cores optimized for integer vector instructions (A100 cores), running at 30 TOPS and programmable via standard toolchains7.

Availability

Unveiled at FOSDEM in January 2026, with an Early Access Program launched shortly after at $99.99 deposit123. The mainboard was officially launched on May 12, 2026, and showcased at Red Hat Summit 2026 shortly after, with three configurations: Basic ($699+), Standard ($899+), and Pro ($1,499+ as a full Framework Laptop 13 2nd Gen build)456. The first production batch is scheduled to ship by the end of June 2026, with an estimated 4–6 week delivery window for new orders56.

DeepComputing also confirmed at Framework's NextGen event on April 21, 2026 that the Mainboard III is fully compatible with the newly announced Framework Laptop 13 Pro8.
